A Jury of Her Peers
Digital prints / 5.5 x 8.5 inches
Covers for the short story A Jury of Her Peers by Susan Glaspell. A farmer is found murdered on a desolate American farm at the turn of the century. His wife is accused as the prime suspect. Two women, a neighbor and the sheriff's wife, find themselves in the accused woman's kitchen as their husbands investigate the crime scene upstairs. The women discover the accused woman's motive by piecing together evidence in the kitchen including a dead canary, a broken birdcage door, spilled sugar, and crooked stitches in a quilt square. The neighbor and sheriff's wife decide to protect the accused woman by keeping these details to themselves. In effect, they become the detectives, the judge and the jury on the case.
